FEBRUARY - MARCH/2020

This big-hearted musical tells the tale of Charlie Price, who is struggling to save his family factory from closure, and Lola the entertainer who tries to help him with wild ideas. The unlikely pair creates a snazzy line of stilettos that lights the world on fire, and in the course of it all both learn valuable lessons about compassion and accepting each other’s differences. The show features lyrics and music by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Fierstein.

FEBRUARY/2020

Romy and Michele are two lovable, inseparable best friends whose relationship is put to the test when they invent fake careers to impress people at their 10-year high school reunion. Through the delightful “where are they now” reveal aimed at the inner high-schooler in all of us, these irrepressible heroines triumph over past insecurities to stand tall amongst their peers. Featuring a book by the film’s screenwriter, Robin Schiff, and an all new ’80s and ’90s pop/rock-inspired score from Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay, ROMY AND MICHELE THE MUSICAL is the coolest thing since the invention of Post-its®.

OCTOBER - DECEMBER/2020

 Peter Pan recounts the adventures of the three Darling children as they fly away from their nursery into the magic and wonder of Neverland. It is in Neverland that they encounter the cunning and evil Captain Hook, villainous pirates, a crafty crocodile and a sprightly fairy, Tinker Bell. The score, a joint effort by Moose Charlap, Carolyn Leigh, Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green remains a favorite of children and adults alike. Peter Pan features such classics as “I Gotta Crow,” “Neverland” and “I’m Flying.”

JULY - AUGUST/2019

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.
“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek….” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek.

Gotta dance! The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” has been faithfully adapted by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original award-winning screenplay. JANUARY - FEBRUARY/2019

Before Hamilton there was 1776, the electrifying musical about the founding of America. Featuring a diverse contemporary cast, this Tony Award-winning smash begins with a deadlocked Congress – sound familiar? Its attempts to adopt the Declaration of Independence are boiling in heated confrontations. Spoiler alert: by the evening of July 3rd, the two sides are still miles apart! But remarkably, these contentious Founding Fathers harness their shared determination to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. See how they get it done!

SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER/2018

Based on a novel by Bradford Ropes and Busby Berkeley’s 1933 movie, this Tony-winning tale is about a starry-eyed dancer named Peggy Sawyer, from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who heads to New York City to audition for the Broadway musical Pretty Lady. When the leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy takes over and becomes a star. This American dream tale showcases some of the greatest songs ever written, including “We’re in the Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “I Only Have Eyes for You,” and the title song “42nd Street.”

Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel.

This star-studded cast, with over 70 Broadway credits combined, will recreate and revive some of Broadway’s greatest hits in a show too big for New York.

Rodrigo will be in the In The Heights segment.

Original - The Musical is a journey inspired by real events in the life of award winning contemporary blues artist Janiva Magness. The story is told from Janiva's perspective as she reminisces about the pivotal moments of her past reanimated through story and autobiographical original music.
A live blues band on stage, vocalists, dancers, archival photographic and film footage with a touching surprise conclusion had audiences leaving the theater feeling uplifted, inspired and perhaps most importantly, appreciative of a woman who chose to survive.

Let the stormy clouds chase everyone from the place, come on with the rain...  July 2015 saw a rainstorm on the Carpenter Center stage, when silent film stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont learn how to transition to the world of the new fangled talking picture. Based on the M-G-M film, the score features "Good Morning," "Moses Supposes," and the title song. Starring Ovation winner Leigh Wakeford (La Mirada's Mary Poppins, 3D Theatricals' The Producers) as Don Lockwood. Directed and choreographed by Jon Engstrom (MTW's 42nd Street) with musical direction by John Glaudini (MTW'sSweeney Todd).
